Adenomyosis

It is estimated that 1 in 5 women have this condition, many unaware. Adenomyosis is where endometrial glands normally found on the lining of the uterus (your womb) have migrated inside the muscle wall of the uterus. This distorts the normal shape and architecture of the uterus.

On ultrasound or MRI this is often described as bulky or enlarged uterus. However it can be difficult to diagnose and should be assessed by a gynaecologist who specialises in ultrasound.
